What is Zoom-with-a-Librarian service?

Through using the Zoom Conference Meeting, you can communicate with and get assistance from the librarian-on-duty by using chat to write or transfer files, screen sharing or speaking to the librarian, for example, on:

  • Library services
  • Access to library e-resources, such as databases, e-books, etc.
  • Library Collections, such as HK Studies, CUHK Digital Repository
  • Bibliographical management tools, such as EndNote, RefWorks

 

When is it available to use?

Service hours are from 2 pm – 5 pm Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays)

Who can use this service?

CUHK students and staff.

What is the hardware and software requirement?

Download and install Zoom to use this service. Please refer to Cloud Meeting Solution- Zoom webpage at the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) for more details.

What is the procedure to use this service?

After login by your CUHK Login, you will go to the Waiting Room. The librarian-on-duty will contact you once available.

  1. After clicking the Zoom-with-a-Librarian link, the following screen will pop up. Click Sign in to Join button

2. Click Sign in with SSO

3. Enter cuhk.zoom.us under Company Domain

4. CUHK Login screen will pop up. Please enter your CUHK Login user name and password to go to Zoom-with-a-Librarian Waiting Room.

What is the difference between Zoom-with-a-Librarian and Live Chat?

You can communicate with the librarian-on-duty by speaking, writing, screen sharing or file transferring when using Zoom-with-a-Librarian service. In Live Chat, you can only communicate with the librarian-on-duty by writing.
