Master the world of finance

The MSc in Finance offers rigorous training to master financial theories and techniques and develop strong quantitative reasoning, along with the latest technological skills in finance. You can study full-time for 1 year with opportunities to go on exchange and study field trips, or part-time for 2 years. After you graduate, you will be primed for a career in investment banking, commercial and corporate banking, asset management, regulatory bodies, consulting, financial services, accounting and general management.

Relevant and applicable skills

This programme provides a solid foundation in portfolio analysis, credit analysis, risk modelling, structured finance, sales and trading, operations and more. You will receive hands-on training in options, futures, trading strategies and algorithms, arbitrage and high frequency trading.

Practical experience

You will experience real market operations in the Finance Trading Laboratory and learn how to react to market fluctuations with guidance from professional traders at world-renowned financial organisations. The lab has 53 workstations equipped with Bloomberg and Reuters terminals, carrying with real-time data feeds from all major stock exchanges, including those in Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Osaka, New York and Europe.

MSc in Finance Advisory Committee

The Full-time MSc Programme in Finance established an Advisory Committee in 2019. The members of this Committee are all seasoned professionals in the field of finance and related areas. The Committee provides high level steering on the direction of the programme as well as help in maintaining the quality and relevance of course content. A bachelor’s degree with at least second-class honours or grade B from a recognised university; English language proficiency; and a valid GMAT or GRE score report for full-time mode (the validity period is 5 years from the test date). Although GMAT/GRE scores are not required for part-time mode, they are highly encouraged.

MSc in Finance graduates are in high demand in Hong Kong and beyond. Our placement office works closely with an impressive and growing list of employers. Our graduates are equipped to take up a wide range of roles, such as portfolio analysis, credit analysis, risk modelling, structured finance, sales and trading, operations and more. They are also suited to roles as graduate or management trainees in general business.

On average, more than 80% of our graduates have found employment within three months upon graduation. Around 80% of these work in the banking and finance industry, with about 60% based in Hong Kong.
