How to apply

You are taking a huge step towards unlocking your potential by applying for a postgraduate degree at CUHK Business School.

1. Apply online

You can apply through the Online Application System.

You will need:

  • To create a personal account online
  • Digital copies of your HKID/passport, transcripts and certificates
  • Your personal statement and curriculum vitae

2. Pay the application fee

A non-refundable application fee of HK$400* is applicable to all programmes.

*Fee subject to adjustments

You can pay by credit card through the Online Application System.


3. Submit your supporting documents

Upload a soft copy of all supporting documents to the Online Application System and send the originals (hard copies) by post to the relevant programme office before the deadline of each round.

The documents required are listed on the Online Application System.

Your application will only be processed once we have received all your supporting documents.


4. Attend an interview

After submitting your application, you may be invited by email for an interview at the programme’s discretion.


Before you apply

Before getting started, please ensure you have met our entry requirements.

General entry requirements

You should have a bachelor’s degree with at least second-class honours or a grade B from a recognised university, or an equivalent professional qualification.


GMAT or GRE

Applicants applying to full-time programme must submit a valid GMAT or GRE score report (Except MSc in ASI). For applicants applying to part-time programme, providing GMAT or GRE score is encouraged, but not required.

Please note:

  • Score reports are considered valid for five years from the test date.
  • You can apply online before your score is ready.
  • Priority is given to applicants who submit a full set of supporting documents.

You can arrange for the test centre to send your GMAT or GRE scores to the relevant programme office by post. The institution codes are:

CUHK Business School has established the Bachelor-Master Partnerships (BMP) with top-tier business schools across the globe. Under the partnership, undergraduate students from partner business schools applying for our full-time master’s programmes will be waived from the GMAT or GRE requirement. English language proficiency

To meet our English language proficiency requirements, you will need:

  • an undergraduate degree completed in Hong Kong, a degree programme taught in English, or a recognised professional qualification with the examination conducted in English; or
  • a TOEFL report with a score not lower than 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based); or
  • an IELTS (Academic Format) report with a score not lower than 6.5; or
  • a GMAT report with a verbal score not lower than 21; or
  • equivalent evidence of English proficiency. (details here)

TOEFL and IELTS results are considered valid for two years from the test date.

Qualification assessment

If your degree was obtained through distance learning or the curriculum was of short duration, you will need to get an assessment report from the Hong Kong Council of Academic Accreditation & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to submit with your application.


Concurrent registration

Under the University’s regulations, you cannot be registered for another course of study leading to the award of a degree, diploma or certificate, either at CUHK or any other tertiary institution at the same time.

The only exception to this is if you have applied in advance with the endorsement of the relevant graduate division and the approval of the Graduate Council. You can download the application form here.

Students in breach of this regulation will be required to discontinue their studies at the University.


Getting a visa

Non-local students require a valid visa / entry permit to study in Hong Kong. Once you have been admitted to the programme, you can apply for a student visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department via the CUHK Graduate School Office. The Graduate School Office will send the visa label to you by courier.
