CUHK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rocky S. Tuan attended the Times Higher Education (THE) World Academic Summit hosted by New York University, US in October. The in-person event attracted over 400 participants from around the world, including some of the world’s most influential university leaders and researchers, to discuss the trajectory of higher education and the vital need for global collaborations to solve societal challenges in a post-pandemic world. There were also exchanges and dialogues on the future of work and education and how universities and industry may work together to tackle challenges in areas of shared values, such as the SDGs, through research and innovation.

Prof. Tuan spoke on two panels at the event, namely ‘Shaping the Trajectory of Personal Success for the Sector’ and ‘The Trajectory of Higher Education’s Commitment to Meaningful Climate Action’. The latter panel was hosted by the International Universities Climate Alliance, of which CUHK is a member, which discussed how universities strengthen their commitment to climate action. He shared the work and achievements of the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change and ‘CUHK Carbon Neutral 2038’ target.
