Second Term Course Registration, 2022-23 |
Dear Students, |
“Information on Second Term Course Registration and Add/Drop, 2022-23” has been posted on RES homepage. Please check your time appointment for course selection in “Enrollment Dates” under CUSIS on or after 1 November. If there is any discrepancy about your time appointment, please report to RES (e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Students whose expected term of graduation is 1st term 2022-23 will NOT have the time appointment for course registration under CUSIS. Please approach Major Programme to seek approval to change the expected graduation term with special reasons if they need to register courses in 2nd term 2022-23. Please also observe the following important information prior to course registration. |
1. Always check Undergraduate Student Handbook |
Students may use the ‘Academic Advisement’ system under CUSIS to monitor their own academic progress and check their course fulfillment for graduation requirements. Besides, students should also refer to the study schemes of Major, Minor (if applicable), and other University requirements stipulated under the Undergraduate Student Handbook available at the homepage of the Academic and Quality Section of the Registry (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/aqs) for checking the requirements. |
2. Application for Exceeding Term Course Load (2nd term 2022-23) |
Please observe the following University Regulations regarding course load to be taken in any academic term. |
5.1 |
A student shall take at least 9 units and no more than 18 units of courses in any term within the normative study period, unless s/he is on first or extended academic probation as provided for in Regulation 5.2. A student shall take no more than 6 units of courses in each summer session, and no student shall be allowed to take more than 39 units in an academic year. |
5.2 |
A student on academic probation shall take a maximum of 12 units per term during first probation, and a maximum of 9 units per term during extended probation. |
5.3 |
Notwithstanding Regulation 5.1, under special circumstances a student may be allowed to take fewer than 9 units or more than 18 units in a term, or more than 39 units in an academic year if recommended by his/her Major Programme and approved by the Registrar, in accordance with such conditions as determined by the Senate from time to time. A student who fails to obtain such approval and (a) does not register for courses after the prescribed period may be required to suspend studies or considered to have withdrawn from studies at the University; or (b) register for a total unit of courses exceeding the stipulated maximum shall be required to drop an appropriate number of courses as deemed necessary. |
For any students under special circumstances who have to apply for exceeding term course load, they MUST follow the following application periods to submit the application under CUSIS for exceeding course load. They MUST read the information on RES homepage prior to submitting the application. Year 1 students MUST also check the course load of their Major Department/Programme on this website before submitting the application. |

Students may put the courses intended to take in the ‘Shopping Cart’ and check the eligibility of the courses using "Validate" function starting from 7 November. Pre-assigned classes such as College Assembly, compulsory College General Education courses and classes pre-assigned by departments will be available for students' enquiry on or before 10 November. For other courses such as required Physical Education courses, University Core Requirements and exemptions, please check the information on RES homepage. Students are recommended to use ‘Validate’ function once again prior to their actual course registration as there may be amendments to class enrolment rules/timetable. Please also check reserved quotas using ‘Teaching Timetable by Subject/Department’ to see if the class quotas are intended for specified students. |
4. Students on the wait list under CUSIS |
Students on wait list MUST remove their name on their own from the wait list if they do not intend to enroll in the class concerned. The wait list generated during the course enrolment in November will be kept until the close of e-add/drop period, unless otherwise decided by the Departments concerned. |
