Declaration of Second Major (16 January – 3 February 2023) |
In accordance with our notice posted in May 2022, students may declare a second major during the second term course add/drop period if they have already fulfilled the graduation requirements of the first major and are in their last term of attendance within the normative study period. Application form for “Declaration of Second Major” is obtainable from RES counter during the period listed above. |

3. |
Change of Study Period Final term students: 6 February - 31 May 2023; Non-final term students: 3 - 31 January 2023 |
Students should observe the following Regulations under the General Regulations Governing Full-time Undergraduate Studies before making decision for change of study period. |
3.1 |
The normative study period of all Major Programmes is four years except for certain programmes as detailed and defined in the Annex. Students are expected to graduate at the end of the normative study period, except for (a) students admitted with Advanced Standing; (b) students granted course and unit exemptions; and (c) students who have applied in accordance with Regulation 3.2 and obtained approval for alteration of their periods of study. |
3.2 |
A student may according to the prescribed procedures and within the specified period apply with valid reasons on a prescribed form to the Registrar for approval for alteration of his/her period of study. Shortening of the normative study period should be made 18 months before the expected graduation term while extension beyond the normative study period should only be made within the specified application period before the commencement of the last year of attendance of the normative study period. No such application, however, shall normally be accepted after the commencement of a student’s expected graduation term. |

4. |
Application for Suspension of Studies |
When special circumstances arise that necessitate suspension of studies for a term, students should apply for suspension of studies within the academic term (i.e. on or before the last teaching day of an academic term), and not after the term ends. For outgoing exchange students, they should also apply for suspension of studies by the specified deadline. |
Students should observe University announcements on precautionary measures for attending face-to-face class meetings / examinations. |
