As occupational health and safety of all members of the University is an essential element to cultivate the positive working environment, University Safety Office (USO) provides safety information and trainings for a variety of workplaces such as offices, laboratories and workshops etc. to promote safety awareness in the campus.
University Safety Office (USO) is to assist CUHK to provide a safe environment in which to study and to work. We will achieve this by providing information, guidelines, awareness training and monitoring in conjunction with safety committees and safety coordinators.

Postgraduate Students engaged in laboratory works need to comprehend a broad range of safety related concepts. It is absolutely important for them to be familiar with safe working and basic emergency procedures while conducting laboratory activities that carry safety risks.
The courses offered are to ensure as much as reasonably practicable that students have, and contribute to a safe working environment
Application for General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) - 2022/23 should reach USO by 15 February 2023 the latest to ensure timely assessment to meet RGC’s deadline.

To facilitate the proper handling and disposal of unwanted hazardous agents or materials upon completion or cessation of occupying the laboratory for conducting research projects, individual staff or research student involved should conduct a laboratory/workshop safety clearance before leaving current positions or the university.
