CUHK Data Hack: Rundown

The Data Hack 2021 was held from 19:00 on 21 May (Fri) to 19:00 on 23 May (Sun) in hybrid mode, i.e. both face-to-face and online.

Day 1 - 21 May 2021 (Friday) -- Face-to-Face Mode & Online Mode

Opening and Team Formation (19:00 - 22:00)

The Opening will be held face-to-face in UGA of InnoPort and online broadcast via Zoom:

Venue: UGA, InnoPort, Inter-University Hall

18:30 – 19:00 Registration: in person / via Zoom
19:00 – 20:00 Introduction & Briefing
20:00 – 22:00 Team Formation (with ice-breaking games)

Participants can join the opening in InnoPort or online via Zoom.  Individual participants must join the Team Formation session via Zoom.

Day 2 - 22 May 2021 (Saturday) - Online Mode

Hackathon!

  • Learning Garden and MakerSpace, LG/F, University Library will be open from 08:20 – 23:59 for participants who want to work on campus. Light refreshment will be available in Learning Garden and MakerSpace

  • Participants in teams can meet with mentors at scheduled time-slots if needed.  Zoom links will be provided.  Reservation should be made in advance
  • Online workshops on data cycle & processing (optional)
    • 11:00 – 12:30: Workshop: OpenRefine
    • 14:00 – 16:00: Workshop: Data Visualization: Excel & Tableau

23 May (Sun)

Final Presentation (16:00 - 19:00)

The Final Presentation will be held in Learning Garden and MakerSpace, LG/F, University Library.  The Venue will be available from 09:30 for participants who want to work on campus and have on-site discussion: Learning Garden and MakerSpace, University Library
09:30 - 15:30 Preparation for Project Presentation
  • Light refreshment will be provided inside Learning Garden and MakerSpace. 
  • Canteens/restaurants are not available on Central Campus on 23 May 2021. Light sandwiches will be provided to participants who work in Learning Garden and MakerSpace that day.
15:30 - 16:00 Get ready for the Final Presentation
16:00 - 19:00 Final presentation & Award Ceremony
