Biographical / Historical
George Walter Robinson was a scholar in Chinese and Japanese Classics. He received education from Winchester College and Christ’s College, Cambridge. He served in the King's Own Royal Regiment in the time of the Secord World War from 1940 to 1946. He obtained a degree in classical Chinese while he was providing services to Her Majesty's Foreign Service. After that, Robinson was employed as lecturer in Ancient Japanese History at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) from 1955 to 1957. He then moved to Languedoc, France and passed away in 1981. His wife was Barbara Lloyd-Jones.
His publications include the translation of classical Chinese poetry, Poems of Wang Wei (1973) and Japanese cultural studies, The Kojiki in the Life of Japan (1969).
