Tan Zhenlin 譚震林 (1902-1983) joined the CCP in 1926. After 1949, he became governor of Jiangsu province and Zhejiang province. In 1956 he was elected to the Politburo, and in 1959 he was appointed vice-premier in charge of agriculture. In February 1967 he raged against the members of the Central Cultural Revolution Group, and he was subsequently purged.
