Research Café on Carbon Neutrality (2) Climate Science
Research Café on Carbon Neutrality (2) Climate Science
The 18th Research Café will be held on 29 Sep 2022 (Thu). The series theme is Carbon Neutrality, which features a wide spectrum of studies by postgraduate students at CUHK that address various aspects of carbon neutrality, or net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, for managing climate risks. Each research café has a focused topic to facilitate discussion and collaboration.
The first focused topic was Climate Policy and it was held in Nov 2021. The focused topic of the coming Research Café is Climate Science. The Library will organize two more Research Cafés on the following topics in 2023-2024:
- Energy transition: Renewables, fossil fuels, electricity market, geopolitics
- Carbon storage: CO2 capture, utilization and storage, ecosystem and carbon storage
We are very honored to invite Prof. Yuan XU, Associate Professor from the Department of Geography and Resource Management, to be the moderator of the event. Prof. Lin LIU, Associate Professor from the Earth System Science Programme will give a short talk on Permafrost: a thawing carbon time bomb? After the short talk, two Ph.D. students, Mr. Jinping ZI from CUHK and Mr. Wenhao WU from Beijing Normal University, will present their research related to this topic.
We are also very honored to invite Dr. Yvonne LOONG, Senior Lecturer, The Independent Learning Centre (ILC), to provide feedback on student presentation skills. All CUHK postgraduates and staff are welcome to join to exchange ideas!
