Since 2007, the CUHK Library has commenced on the digital preservation of rare and unique books in our collection which are becoming fragile due to acidity of the paper, especially those published during the Republic of China period (1911-1949). The digitization aims to preserve and provide digital format of early scholarly works for academic and research use. The legacy platform "Library Ebook Initiative" which had hosted these digital books for many years has been replaced in January 2021 by the new " Minguo Collection" on the Digital Repository with enhanced image quality and browsing features. The old electronic books previously available on this platform will gradually be migrated to the Minguo Collection after image quality assurance procedures.Currently, Digital Initiatives Team have ingested about 1,300 titles of Minguo books. The process takes time, if members of CUHK need to access individual titles that are not readily available in this Collection, please request for an electronic version via Print to E-copy service online, the Library will acquire or arrange on-demand digitalization as soon as practicable.
We will take necessary action according to the Library’s Take-down Policy.
