How to Use the MakerSpace Facilities and Services: 3D Printers

  1. There is no charge to use 3D printers provided by the MakerSpace. Users are responsible for the costs of 3D printing filament.
  2. Users are responsible for any damage to the furniture and equipment in the MakerSpace.
  3. Unless otherwise approved by the University Librarian, the 3D printers are used by eligible users for educational and non-commercial purposes ONLY.
  4. Users should comply with copyright, patent, and other intellectual policy regulations, which do include specific exceptions for fair use. CUHK Library staff reserves the right to refuse any usage request. 
  5. For opening the UP mini 2 3D printer service, the user will only use the filament that MakerSpace provided.  There is no guarantee of the color of the filament and the result of the 3D print. 

3D Printing Services Update: 

  • A new 3D Printer (Ultimaker S5) with the extended printing size: 330 x 240 x 300 mm
  • A new flexible material (TPU 95A) is available 

Up Mini 2 (self-service)

Description: The UP mini 2 is an easy-to-use portable 3D printer. 

Eligible Users: CUHK students and staff, CUHK Library users

You can print your 3D objects on a self-service basis.

First come first served.

Location: Workbench,  Learning Garden & MakerSpace

Policy:

For the UP mini 2 3D printer service, the user will only use the filament that MakerSpace provided.

FormLabs Form 2

Description: The Formlabs Form 2 is a 3D printer that delivers high-resolution 3D parts in small size

Eligible Users: CUHK students and staff

Reservation Method: Service printer operated by Library staff. Submitting your 3D print request to the Learning Garden HelpDesk from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday

(Turnaround Time: Printing time varies based on the print queue, object size, design and complexity. Please submit your file at least 2 weeks prior to the date needed. You will receive an email when the object is ready for collection)
