Biography

Prof. Poon is a registered medical specialist in public health medicine in Hong Kong, and he is also a family medicine fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He has experience in practising public health medicine in the Department of Health of Hong Kong for more than 10 years. He completed the Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) in 2015. Prof. Poon also had chance to work in the Regional Office of the Western Pacific (WPRO) of the World Health Organization (WHO) and attach to Public Health England in Oxford. He is an examiner, a trainer and a member of the Public Health Medicine Subspecialty Board of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine (HKCCM), and a diplomate examiner for the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) of the United Kingdom. Prof. Poon is the chief examiner for the licensing examination in professional knowledge (Medical Ethics/Community Medicine) of the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a member of the Prevention of Legionnaires’ Disease Committee of the HKSAR Government. He started to work as a clinical assistant professor in The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2020.
