Call for Applications: China-U.S. Scholars Program (Deadline: 15 April 2021)

China-U.S. Scholars Program

Objective The China-U.S. Scholars Program (CUSP) is an exchange fellowship program for Chinese and American scholars and students in the arts, humanities and social sciences to teach, study or conduct research abroad in mainland China, Hong Kong SAR or the U.S. in 2021-2022. The program will award 48 grants to selected faculty and students.
Eligibility Activity Outbound Inbound
–     CUHK scholars and students can propose research projects in the U.S. –     U.S. scholars can propose teaching, research or both at CUHK

–     U.S. students can propose study or research projects at CUHK

Scholars –     Permanent residents of mainland China, Hong Kong SAR or U.S.

–     Hold a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, etc.). For artists, the terminal degree requirement can be substituted with 5+ years of significant professional experience

–     Postdoctoral researchers

–     Faculty at a higher education institution

–     Independent scholars

–     Scholars affiliated with thinktanks, research centres or other bodies with a research-centred focus

–     Proficiency in relevant language needed to teach or research

Students –     Permanent residents of mainland China, Hong Kong SAR or U.S.

–     Final year undergraduates

–     Students currently in a master’s / doctoral program

–     Graduates of undergraduate or master’s degree (within one year at the time of application)

–     Proficiency in relevant language needed to study or research

Fields of Study / Research A broad range of fields in arts, humanities and social sciences. Please refer to the list of eligible disciplines.
Scope of Support –     Living Stipend

–     International Airfare

–     Medical Insurance

–     Professional Allowance

–     Dependent Allowance (for scholars)

–     Tuition (for students enrolled in an academic program)

Application –     Application will close on April 15, 11:59pm EDT

–     The grant will support programs of five to ten months between August 2021 and May 2022

–     Selected awardees will be notified in late May 2021
