Call for Applications: APRU Undergraduate Leaders’ Program 2021 (Virtual) (Deadline: 11 Aug 2021)

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) to which CUHK is a member is now inviting applications for the Undergraduate Leaders’ Program (ULP) 2021 to be hosted by the University of the Philippines during 18–29 October 2021. Three CUHK undergraduate students will be nominated to participate in the ULP. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.

 

Theme Sahaya: Science and Arts Harnessing the Youth’s Advocacies
Objectives To train youth leaders of the Asia Pacific to embrace interdisciplinary, people-centered, and environmentally sustainable approaches and solutions to meet emerging challenges in the Asia Pacific in an increasingly globalized world.
Activities
  • Through a 12-day program of virtual lectures and workshops, students will be immersed to the challenges of a developing country in the Asia Pacific and gain a multifaceted perspective on achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
  • As an output for the program, participants are expected to propose solutions to the emerging challenges by producing their own video blog/vlog.
  • Participants will also have the chance to meet exemplary leaders in their respective fields such as in good governance, environment and climate change, biofortification, and agriculture, among others.
Program Dates Participants are expected to login the Zoom platform every day for 12 days. Below is the tentative schedule:

18 Oct Opening ceremony for APRU ULP 2021
19–24 Oct Workshops and lectures
24 Oct Global cultural activity
25 Oct Integration
26–28 Oct Group work
29 Oct Plenary presentation, closing ceremony, and Philippine cultural activity
Eligibility CUHK full-time undergraduate students, except final year students in 2020–21, from all disciplines are welcome to apply.
Program Fee
  • Participants will be required to pay a program fee of US$100 which will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the program.
  • Selected students will receive full sponsorship for participation in the program.
Application Interested students should complete the online application form by 11 August (Wed). Three CUHK students will be selected for nomination and the final selection rests with the selection committee of ULP.
