Ms. Shally Fan (top right) speaks at the panel on the interculturalisation of campus.
Ms. Shally Fan, Director of Academic Links, spoke at the panel ‘Interculturalisation of the Campus – Classroom and Non-classroom Perspectives and Practices’ at the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Annual Conference and Exhibition held in March.
During this session, Ms. Fan talked about internationalisation of the curriculum and the experience in driving cultural engagement and internationalisation at CUHK. She recommended large-scale programmes be complemented by small-scale ones in promoting cultural diversity and integration. However, different models should be adopted to suit different universities. Classroom is an effective setting for driving internationalisation of the curriculum, and that universities should provide necessary training and resources to support teachers to implement this effort.
Other speakers of the panel included Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan, Vice President for International Affairs of National Taiwan University; and Prof. Nobuhiro Hayashi, Vice President for International Affairs of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
