To cheer up the incoming students while they were busy preparing for their term papers and final examinations in April, the Office of Academic Links provided ingredient packs and recipes for Chinese dishes. Several signature dishes of Hong Kong-style home cooking were available, including stir-fried string beans with minced pork, Kung Pao prawn, stir-fried black truffle with king trumpet mushroom, and fried rice.

Miho Kawabata of Soka University had great fun making the fried rice. Miho talked about her exchange studies at CUHK in a video interview. While the pandemic has affected her learning experience, she still managed to make some close friends with other exchange and local students. In her second term at CUHK, Miho was already serving as an ambassador for CUHK by leading campus tours for the new incoming exchange students. Her joining of the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra was most unforgettable as she has been a flutist since primary school and she enjoyed playing the flute with the local students.
