Non-EU Teaching Mobility Program at the University of Vienna 2020-21

The University of Vienna, Austria is inviting applications to the Non-EU Teaching Mobility Program 2019-20 which supports short-term teaching visits by faculty members in humanities, law, theology, social sciences, natural sciences, and life sciences of partner universities.

Programme Details

  • The minimum duration of the course is three weeks while the maximum is 90 days.
  • The teaching assignment comprises an entire university course of 30 in-class contact hours.
  • The language of instruction is English.
  • Invited candidates receive a work contract with the University of Vienna for up to 90 days. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to €2,000 upon providing settled invoices.

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants have to get in contact with a faculty member in their specific academic field of the University of Vienna for support.
  • The proposed blocked course should fit into at least one of the degree programs of the University of Vienna and complement existing courses.

Applications should be submitted via the online application system with required documents.

Application Deadline

  • 1 July 2019 (for courses planned between March and June 2020)
  • 1 February 2020 (for courses planned between October 2020 and January 2021)

APEC Healthy Women, Healthy Economics Research Prize 2019

The inaugural APEC Healthy Women, Healthy Economies Research Prize is calling for applications for outstanding research that strives to improve women’s health, economic wellbeing, and inclusive growth. The Prize aims to highlight and spur the creation of sex-disaggregated data and gender-based research that will help decision-makers make more evidence-based policies to improve the lives of women and strengthen the regional economy.

Research topics in the following five areas are invited:

  • workplace health and safety
  • health awareness and access
  • sexual and reproductive health
  • gender-based violence
  • work/ life balance

The winner will receive USD20,000 and the two runners-up will win USD5,000 each. For more details on the Prize and submission criteria, please refer to www.apec.org/healthywomen/HWHE_Prize.

Social Innovation Research Collaboration Funding Scheme

The BRICKS project is inviting researchers, social changemakers and community representatives to join its new Social Innovation Research Collaboration Platform (SIRCP) and is offering funding of HK$87,500 per project (up to eight projects) for innovative and collaborative research projects that address social challenges in Hong Kong.

BRICKS (Building Research Innovation for Community Knowledge and Sustainability) is an ambitious project that aims to find innovative solutions to social challenges in Hong Kong by fostering collaboration between higher education institutes, NGOs, social enterprises and other organisations that deliver public services.

For 2019, three key systemic level research themes have been identified:

  • Track One: Funding and Financing Social Change
  • Track Two: The Challenges of Scaling Social Enterprises
  • Track Three: Community Led Social Innovation

In addition to the three track themes, other social issues that have been identified as potential areas for more research include ageing populations and community-based solutions to issues of care and support; disabled people, inclusion and employment; ethnic minorities, inclusion and employment; 21st century skills in the context of AI; pathways out of poverty for low income families; second language acquisition; housing, notably co-living approaches; social inclusion and cohesion, with a focus on marginalised communities; and youth skills and opportunities.
