CUHK’s Excellence Recognised Globally and Locally
CUHK is a leader in higher education.
CUHK’s excellence in teaching and research has been recently reaffirmed by international ranking agencies and its students.
The University ranks 56th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, climbing up one spot from last year. The table is based on 13 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance in five pillars including teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. In particular, CUHK excels in international outlook and ranks 11th globally in this area. Similarly, the University also sees strong performance in another newly released league table, the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2020, where it has topped the list in Hong Kong.
At the same time, CUHK ranks 1st in ‘satisfaction with overall learning environment’ and 2nd in ‘satisfaction with the quality and value gained from teaching and learning experience’ among the eight government-funded universities in Hong Kong by student reviews in the 2018–19 University Accountability Agreement released by the University Grants Committee. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new term will continue to run online. CUHK will strive to refine its courses, teaching and learning, and the forms of assessment to reinforce the overall teaching and learning quality.
