Global and local recognitions for research excellence
CUHK has recently received global and local recognitions for its excellence in research and innovation.
Researchers from CUHK have received 17 awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2022, including four Gold Medals, ten Silver Medals and three Bronze Medals, demonstrating the University’s excellence in research and innovation on the global stage. The awarded projects showcase CUHK’s success in knowledge transfer, translating research and innovation into tangible benefits and outcomes. Among the 17 projects, four of them were developed under the world-class InnoHK research centres led by CUHK in partnership with prestigious universities worldwide. The InnoHK initiative is a HK$10 billion (US$1.3 billion) scheme of the Hong Kong Government to develop the city as the hub for global research collaboration.
In addition, research projects from multiple disciplines at CUHK have recently been awarded a total of over HK$32 million (US$4 million) from Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council under various schemes, which encourage local institutions to engage in impactful and translational projects as well as promote collaboration between local, mainland and overseas researchers. These projects cover various areas, including automation engineering, earth system science, life sciences, physics, medicine, and sports science.
