CUHK academic speaks on Esports at APRU conference

CUHK’s online game culture expert, Prof. Peichi Chung from the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies spoke at the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Esports MetaGame Conference on 12 December 2020 which was part of the larger Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum hosted by the Cyberport in Hong Kong which received over 500,000 views with attendees from more than 30 economies worldwide.
The Esports Metagame Conference aimed to incorporate the full ecosystem of Esports to expand the purview of the Esports landscape. Focusing on Hong Kong as an emerging Esports leader in the region, the conference examined the ways Esports leaders could further its scope within universities from Esports as a digital entertainment to developing career pathways for students in the Esports ecosystem. It was attended by over 700 students and university administrators, government leaders and industry experts.
Prof. Chung provided insights into Esports development in Hong Kong and flagged key issues that need to be addressed to promote a healthy ecosystem, as well as gave a presentation on the player-led Esports ecosystem. Please click here to revisit the conference.
