Reaching Out Award 2021/22

In order to equip students with international exposure, the HKSAR Government has launched Reaching Out Awards (ROA) which is granted on an annual basis since 2012/13. The value of each award is HKD10,000.
Examples of outreaching activities
- Events / competitions (e.g. Conferences, forums, workshops, seminars, training camps, competitions, service projects, etc.)
- Internships or placements (e.g. credit-bearing/ non-credit bearing, etc.)
- Field/ study trips or courses(e.g. foreign language immersion programmes, academic exchange programmes, etc.)
- Courses (e.g. foreign language immersion programmes, academic exchange programmes, etc.)
Eligibilities & Selection Criteria
- Full-time New Asia College undergraduate students studying in UGC-funded programmes of any discipline.
- Year 1 undergraduate students must have good academic results during secondary education and in public examination. Year 2 or above undergraduate students must have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above up to the summer session of previous academic year.*
* For Year 2 or above MBChB students, they must have attained a GPA equivalent of 3.0 or above in the previous academic year.
- Participated / will participate in outreach activities outside Hong Kong during the academic year 2021/22 (1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022). There is no restriction on the duration of the outreach activities.
- Students can only receive the award once throughout the entire study programme.
Remarks:
i. Preference will be given to local students while non-local students may apply also
ii. Financial need of applicants may also be considered.
iii. Nominee can apply for ROA for one activity only.

Please submit your resume form and supporting documents via email to nac.sb@cuhk.edu.hk in PDF format on or before 7 January 2022 (Friday) 5:00 p.m. Late submission will NOT be considered.

Academic transcripts /Report
|
For Year 1 undergraduate students:
- Photocopies of public examination report(s) (e.g. HKDSE, IB, GCE, etc) / Academic transcript on previous qualifications (e.g. Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, etc.)
For Year 2 or above undergraduate students:
- Photocopies of transcript on current programme up to the academic year 2020/21, including summer term (if any) Please provide the unofficial transcript downloaded from CUSIS. The issue date of the transcript should be on or after 1 October 2021.

Information on the outreach activity issued by the organizer
|
e.g. poster, leaflet, email, etc. (Please highlight the relevant information of the outreach activity if the documentary reference (e.g. booklet and powerpoint) includes other information.)

Reflection report
|
Applicants who have already completed the outreach activity at the time of application:
- The report should be at least 2,000 words for English or 1,000 words for Chinese to share his/her outreach experience including 1 to 3 photos taken during the trip. The awardee must strictly follow the guidelines and the template (English /Chinese) provided by the Education Bureau (EDB) when writing the report
Applicants who haven’t finished your outreach activities:
- You are required to submit the report 1 month after the last day of your activities
For the duration of activity, please fill in the official start date & end date only. Days outside the said period should not be counted.
