Dear Students,
Life is unpredictable. Did anyone expect that the day would start with a heavy downpour, and then a black rainstorm signal?
Times of adversity highlight differences in people’s lives. Some happened to not have class or work today, others could choose to work from home, yet many have to brave the rain to head out or work outdoors despite the weather conditions.
As social beings, we are drawn to compare ourselves with people around us. In the age of social media, how often do we look at the good things that others have – clothes, accessories, staycations, achievements, cool friends, beautiful faces and physiques, etc.? Do we feel inspired and entertained, or do we experience envy or lower self-esteem? We can’t really control the reactions that arise, but noticing how we feel in response can help us decide whether certain use of social media are enriching or dampening our mental wellbeing. Hope you are staying safe and not too wet today.
