The International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) 2017 was held on 17-18 August at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This annual conference is built on Hong Kong’s unique status as a place where Eastern and Western influences have given rise to respect for and knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that is backed up by world-class medical facilities and top-notch academic research.
The theme of this year’s keynote presentation is “International Standardisation of TCM”. Standardisation is important for the globalisation of TCM and is a critical process in its increasing modernisation. The conference also features prominent speakers from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Korea and Macau, to share views on products quality control, pharmacology, commercialisation, as well as sharing of successful cases.
Our Director, Prof. Pang-Chui Shaw, was invited to give a presentation on the topic of “Recent advances in molecular authentication of Chinese medicinal material products”.
