1 Programme Background
Hong Kong as an International Metropolis, is well-known as a commercial and financial hub. It is an important gateway to China and China's window to the World. There is a great need to process information at phenomenal rate from various sources in a rapid dynamic business environment. For organisations to be successful in this competitive global market place, there are great needs of skilled and capable administrative assistants, office specialists and office managers to satisfy the vital component of value-added information flow.
2 Programme Objectives
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
-Demonstrate hands-on competence in modern office tasks such as text and data processing, graphic presentation;
-Have competence in handling internal and external business communications, e.g. memoranda, letters, written messages from email, fax and telephone;
-Draft and write in various routine business formats to support clients and business partners (i.e. to create professional-look letters, reports, memos and so forth).

3 Expected Learning Outcomes
This programme prepare students to develop the skills necessary to assume clerical through supervisory level support roles in small and large professional offices. Skills include:essential office text and data processing, effective office communication and business presentation through speaking and writing both internally and externally. Graduates of the programme are prepared to take up positions such as Executive Secretary, Receptionist, Executive Assistant and so on.
4 Programme Structure and Duration
This Programme comprises of the ten modules listed below to make up a total of 200 contact hours. The participants can complete the programme in twelve to eighteen months of part-time study. The maximum period allowed for completing the Programme is 2 years from the date of registration at SCS.
Modules will be reviewed regularly, modules may be refined or new modules may be added in future to meet the changes in technology and the needs of the Hong Kong society.

5 Mode of Delivery
This Programme will be delivered mainly by face-to-face instruction, laboratories, case studies and projects, supplemented with online materials as deemed appropriate.
6 Continuing Education Fund
This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. This course is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level 3).
