• Full-time first-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (Statistics programme) on the basis of admission results. The amount is HK$10,000 each.
• Full-time first-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (Statistics programme) who declared a major in Statistics at Phase I on the basis of admission results. The amount is HK$3,000 each.
• Full-time first-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (RMSC programme) on the basis of admission results. The amount is HK$10,000 each.
• Full-time second-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (Statistics programme or RMSC programme) on the basis of the students’ first-year academic results obtained after admission to the Statistics programme or RMSC programme. The amount is HK$2,000 each.
• Full-time third-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (Statistics programme or RMSC programme ) on the basis of the students’ second-year academic results obtained after admission to the Statistics programme or RMSC programme . The amount is HK$2,000 each.
• Full-time final-year undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics (Statistics programme or RMSC programme ) on the basis of the students’ penultimate year academic results. The amount is HK$2,000 each.

Professor Gu Ming Gao (顧鳴高教授) has kindly pledged to donate HK$1 million to The Chinese University of Hong Kong for offering a number of awards to the undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics.

Number and Value of Awards in 2020/21
For Scholarship, there will be up to three awards of HK$5,000 each per annum. Maximum one award each will be offered to the second, third and fourth year students.
For Bursary, there will be up to one new award of HK$10,000 per annum. Maximum tenure of the Bursary is 4 years.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship, the candidates must:

• be full-time undergraduate students of the Department of Statistics;
• be in their second, third or fourth year of study; and
• have attained a Year GPA of at least 3.0 in the previous academic year.

To be eligible for the Bursary, the candidate must:

• be a full-time undergraduate freshman of the Department of Statistics; and
• have demonstrable financial need.

The Bursary is tenable up to a maximum of 4 years subject to the following renewal conditions:

• The awardee remains a registered full-time student of the Department of Statistics throughout the tenure of the Bursary.
• The awardee has achieved a Year GPA of at least 2.7 in the previous academic year.
• The awardee has demonstrable financial need.

Requirement: For a full-time undergraduate student who has achieved the most outstanding academic results in Statistic major programme specializing in the stream of Data Science and Business Statistics in the previous year.
