UNDERGRADUATE - TEACHING AND LEARNING
Please observe the schedule of course selection and add/drop announced by the Registration and Examinations Section, and complete course registration under CUSIS on specified dates.
Students are required to complete the University Core Requirements, which comprise the following:
For students admitted in 2021-22 and before:
- University and College General Education courses
- Chinese and English language courses
- Physical Education course
- IT course
For students admitted in 2022-23 and thereafter:
- University and College General Education courses
- Chinese and English language courses
- Physical Education course
- Digital Literacy and Computational Thinking course
- Understanding China
- Hong Kong in the Wider Constitutional Order
The programme focuses on equipping students the necessary skills and knowledge for applying design thinking to create social science solutions to real world problems for social good and to offer social science answers to real world questions and encompassing issues.
Students are required to take 4 required courses (12 units) and one or two areas of elective courses (6 units). For details of study schemes (by year of admissions) and course descriptions, please refer to this link.
To encourage students to gain exposure to knowledge outside their major discipline, Faculty Package is provided to allow them to take courses normally worth up to 9 credit units outside their major but within the Faculty.
The University places very high importance on honesty in academic work submitted by students, and adopts a policy of zero tolerance on academic dishonesty. While "academic dishonesty" is the overall name, there are several sub-categories as follows:
- Plagiarism
- Undeclared multiple submission
- Cheating in tests and examinations
- All other acts of academic dishonesty
- Employing or using services provided by a third party
Students should make themselves familiar with the content of Honesty in Academic Work: A Guide for Students and Teachers and watch short videos prepared by the Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research to have a thorough understanding on the matter. To further help students understand better how they can avoid breaches of academic integrity, the Faculty has prepared a set of guidance notes with examples illustrating some of the established cases.
