Scholarship and Financial Aid
United College offers a wide variety of scholarships and financial aid to our students. These scholarships aim to promote and foster ethical, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic development in students as well as to help them in financial matters. In the academic year 2022-2023, the total amount of scholarships, awards and financial aid offered by the College reaches HK$10 million, with over 1,800 awards.
United College offers admission scholarships to new students through the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, CUHK.

(a) United College Whole-person Education Admission Scholarships Scheme
In order to encourage students with different talents and expertise to pursue studies in United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, United College has established the “United College Whole-person Education Admission Scholarships Scheme”. Awards include:

(b) First-in-the-Family Tertiary Education Admission Scholarships
The First-in-the-Family Tertiary Education Admission Scholarships are to encourage students who are the first generation in the family to pursue tertiary education at United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The quota of the award is 100 with HK$2,500 each.
(a) Student Financial Aid
A number of College bursary and interest-free loan schemes are available to students who are in sudden financial difficulties. The amount of each grant/loan is determined by individual needs.
(b) Student Residence Grant Scheme
The College student residence grant scheme provides financial support to the needy students.
- Hostel Residence Grant: A successful applicant can receive HK$1,360 for each semester (for applicants who have successfully applied for regular-term residence on campus)
- Off-campus Residence Grant: A successful applicant can receive up to HK$5,440 for one academic year (for students who failed to apply for a hostel place on campus and need to rent an off-campus unit for accommodation)
