The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is located in Shatin, New Territories. Its 137-hectare campus with more than 160 buildings provides state-of-the-art facilities to over 7,100 staff members and 18,000 students.


The Security Office is located on the first floor of the Security and Transport Building near the main entrance. The Security Office comprises of more than 90 uniformed security officers working round the clock in keeping CUHK campus one of the safest university campuses in the world. The Security Office performs a variety of functions. It protects students, staff, residents and visitors from crime; it ensures that public functions are run in a smooth and orderly fashion; it regulates the daily throughput of over 3,000 vehicles, their parking and overall traffic management. It handles accident investigations, fire alarm calls, lift entrapment cases, lock-ins, nuisance calls, crowd control and most importantly it offers expert advice on risk assessment and fully committed to the maintenance of good law and order on campus.

The service hours of Security Office are as follows:

Control Room:        24-hour (Telephone No.: 3943-7999)

General Office:       From 0830 to 1800 hours

                              (Monday to Friday, except public holidays and University holidays)
