New Overnight Parking Arrangements Effective from January 1, 2012

previouspausenext

The University has ceased the issuance of 'regular' monthly permit for overnight parking on campus since July 1, 2011. Pertinent to this, the Administrative Affairs Committee at its 15th (2011) meeting resolved to adopt/clarify the following arrangements on overnight parking on campus:

(a) To address the concern of the then users of regular monthly permit (as at June 30, 2011), there will be a further grace period of 6 months from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012 during which period the said group of users may subscribe a 'special' monthly permit for overnight parking at the rate of HK$300 per month. After the said date, such users have to pursue their overnight parking on campus (if still needed) as per the arrangements set out in sub-paragraphs (b) or (c) below.

(b) With effect from January 1, 2012, 'nightly permit' (@HK$20 per night) will enable overnight parking at the car park opposite Fong Shu Chuen Building, at Site B (Chak Cheung Street) and next to Shanghai Fraternity Association Research Services Centre. It should be noted that 'nightly permit' is issued to provide convenience to staff in addressing their need to park their vehicles on campus overnight for work related purpose on a short-term basis.

(c) Separately there is the 'special monthly permit (Am)' (at HK$300 per month) to enable work-related overnight parking same as that for nightly permit but on a monthly basis. Subscription to the special monthly permit is subject to application in which an applicant and his/her Head of Department should set out the work related reasons for overnight parking on a monthly basis, for consideration and approval by the AAC. The cost of the subject 'Am' permit should be borne by the affiliating Department/Unit.

Staff users are advised that there is 'no guaranteed space for parking in the three specified sites'. Furthermore, it should be reiterated that the use of Site B for parking purpose is solely a temporary arrangement which may be terminated at any time.
