Kevin Lau (left) and Yuan Chao (right), PhD students of the School of Architecture, received the AMS-IAUC Student Award in the 8th International Conference on Urban Climate in Dublin. The award was jointly presented by the American Meteorological Society and the International Association of Urban Climate. Lau’s study examined the effect of urbanization based on past temperature variability and provides baseline information for the prediction of future climate change at district level. Yuan’s study investigated the effect of urban morphology on pedestrian-level wind environment by using computational fluid dynamics simulation and morphometric method.
