Biography
Marc Ka-chun CHONG received his BSc degree in Statistics and PhD degree in Public Health from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2006 and 2011 respectively. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Assistant Professor (by courtesy) in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine in CUHK, and Associate Researcher (by courtesy) in Shenzhen Research Institute, CUHK. Dr. Chong’s research interests include examining the complex interactions between environmental changes, human behaviors and infectious disease transmissions through integration of the static and dynamic mathematical approaches. He also works on various applications of mathematical modelling for health system and policy research, and artificial intelligence for improving healthcare decision-making.
Dr. Chong works as a biostatistician in the Centre for Clinical Research and Biostatistics (former Centre for Clinical Trials) since 2006, possessing rich experience in conducting various statistical analysis of academic and industrial clinical trials. He is/was also a statistical consultant for different consultation projects, for example, Development of Refined Population-based Model to Inform Resource Allocation, Surgical Outcomes Monitoring and Improvement Programme, and Intensive Care Units Outcomes Monitoring Program held by Hospital Authority. He is also keen on providing biostatistical supports for faculty colleagues.
To date, Dr. Chong has published more than 80 research papers and is the first/corresponding author for 39 of the publications. He is/was a principal investigator for seven external competitive grants. Dr. Chong is the Statistical Advisor of the Hong Kong Medical Journal and Academic/Associate Editors for several international journals.
