△ T h e Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research In s titu te ) in Godesberg, Germany, has recently donated a q u a n tity o f books in German to the L ib ra ry o f U n ite d College. These books in 87 titles to ta llin g 190 volumes comprise selections o f reference books, such as ‘‘D e r Grosse D u d e n ", ‘‘Das Fischer L e x ik o n "; valuable editions o f German literature, histo ry and drama, such as the H am bu rg edition o f the complete works o f Goethe and B e rto ldt B recht; and works on etymology. These hooks w ill be used by students o f the U n iv e rs ity engaged in German studies. A On 9th M ay, the In s titu te o f Advanced Chinese Studies and Research o f New Asia College gave a tea pa rty in honour o f D r. James T .C . L iu , H onorary Research Fellow o f the In s titu te and Professor o f H is to ry at Princeton U n iv e rsity . D u rin g the reception, P ro fessor L iu related his personal experience regarding the lin g u istic proficiency required fo r conducting academic research w ork. T h e same evening, President T .C . Ou and Professor Tang C h iin -i, D ire cto r o f the In s titu te ， had a d inner in honour o f Professor L iu , Professor C .K . Yang and Professor B. Ho lzne r o f P ittsburgh U n ive rsity. △ T h e D epartm ent o f M u sic at Chung C h i College presented its students in a spring concert on 3rd M ay in the College Chapel. T h e programme featured piano, organ and vocal music by famous composers, as well as some Chinese songs. △ By courtesy o f the Consulate General o f France, a film en titled "U n e Partie de Campagne" (A Day in the C o un try) was shown at U n ited Colege on 1st M ay. △ A t the in v ita tio n o f the H is to ry Departm ent of N ew Asia College, M r. M o u Jun-sun, Professor of Chinese H is to ry o f the U n ive rsity, delivered a lecture on “ T h e M a y 4th M o vem e n t" on 2nd May. △ A Special College Assembly to honour graduating seniors was held on 24th M a y at Chung Chi College. Speakers at the Assembly were M r. T ang H on Shu, President o f the S tudent U n ion ； M r. Lau C h i Ching, President o f the Senior Class ； and Rev. W alton H . Tonge, College Chaplain. A tea reception followed in the College Staff C lub.
