and MBA degree in finance in the United States. He is a certified public accountant, a certified internal auditor and a certified management accountant, w i th almost 20 years of financial and accounting experience. Prior to joining the University in January 1995, he held senior management positions in different government organizations, banks, and major multinational corporations. His work experience spans the full spectrum of financial and accounting activities, including budgeting, auditing, investment, fund management, internal control, treasury, costing, financial and tax planning, financial policies and systems, and company secretarial matters. Mr. Mok is a member of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association o f Accountants. Mr. Mok treasures old things 一 old paintings, old books, old songs, old watches, and old friends. He also enjoys the new environment and challenge the University offers. Dr. Chong Tai-leung Lecturer in Economics Dr. Chong Tai-leung was bom in Fu Jian province in 1968, and moved to Hong Kong in 1973. He obtained his B.S.Sc. in economics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1991, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University o f Rochester. He returned to CUHK in August 1995 and joined the Economics Department. Dr. Chong is actively involved in research. While still a graduate student, he had an article published in a professional journal. He was also invited by Rice University and the London School of Economics to present papers. His research interests include econometrics theory , time series analysis, and econometrics of multiple structural changes. Dr. Ran Wei Lecturer in Journalism & Communication After completing his undergraduate studies in English and in journalism at the Shanghai International Studies University in 1986, Dr. Wei worked for China Central Television (CCTV) as a reporter and producer. He then furthered his studies at the University of Wales at Cardiff, UK, and obtained an MA in Media Studies in 1989. He pursued doctoral studies in mass communication and business administration at Indiana University in the Unite d States and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1995. As a graduate student, Dr. Wei won a number of competitive scholarships, such as the British Council Scholarship, the Tsai Wan-lin Scholarship, and the China Times Scholarship for Young Scholars. Dr. Wei's teaching and research interests cover comparative media systems, marketing communication and advertising, management communication and public relations, and media management. His current research projects focus on the adjustments that the press has had to make in the course of the political transition in Taiwan, with emphasis on the media's role in cross-strait relations. Dr. Wei is a member of the International Communication Association, the Chinese Communication Association, and the Midwest Association of Public Opinion Research. Dr. Wei is married. Both he and his wife enjoy music, book collection, and walking. Dr. Lo Lung-kwong Lecturer in Religion Dr. Lo Lung - kwong studied forestry at National Chung Hsin University in Taiwan, received an M.Div. from CUHK in 1976, and was ordained as a Methodist Minister in 1979. He completed his Ph.D. studies in the New Testament at Durham University, UK, in 1988. Dr. Lo has been with the Methodist Church in Hong Kong since 1976. After serving as assistant minister at the Yau Ma Tei Methodist Church for two years, he was appointed the minister-in-charge of the Methodist Epworth Village Church and Community Centre in 1978. For seven years he was actively involved in serving low-income people and participating in social movements to improve their wellbeing. After 1988, Dr. Lo served as minister-in-charge of the Methodist Church in Wan Chai. As head of the Theology Division, Dr. Lo hopes to see theology interact more extensively with other disciplines and become a significant subject in the University. Profiles 28
