As Much Remembrance, As Many Words 33 Dr. Vincent Cheng CUHK Council Chairman 2009–2015 D r. Vincent Cheng is best known as the first Chinese Executive Direc tor of HSBC Holdings and the first Chinese Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. At CUHK, he is widely known as the Vice- President of the second Student Un i o n , a N ew A s i a g r a du a t e in economi c s in 1973 , and the first alumnus to become Council Chairman of the University. O n 2 3 O c t o b e r l a s t y e a r , Dr. Cheng bade farewell to his six- year chairmanship. CUHK Bulletin recently talked to him about his experience as Council Chairman, as well as his reminiscence about his alma mater.
