News in Brief 27 Graduate Law Centre Established in Commercial Hub The CUHK Graduate Law Centre of the School of Law begins operations in the summer of 2006. The new 35,000 sq. ft. centre occupies the entire second floor of the Bank of America Tower in Central. Equipped with state-of- the-art teaching facilities such as a moot court, it serves members of the community and legal professionals who wish to further their legal education at CUHK. The prime location of the centre reinforces the bonds between the school, the legal profession and the community, and create unrivalled opportunities for legal and law-related research. It also enables students to participate in activities such as round- table discussions on topics of importance, seminars and lectures delivered by legal practitioners, court visits, and formal and informal meetings with representatives of the profession. University College London Visited the School of Law Prof. Malcolm Grant, President and Provost of University College London, and Lord Woolf of Barnes, University College London’s Chair of Council, visited the School of Law at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 4 April 2006. Their visit is a landmark in the establishment of a global network as Hong Kong’s newest School of Law positions itself internationally as a key centre of legal research and scholarship. The establishment of this strong intellectual and academic partnership between the School of Law and University College London will benefit the future of legal education in Hong Kong and enhance the School’s contribution to the wider community by providing important international links for Hong Kong students and scholars. Prof. Grant and Lord Woolf’s visit is expected to strengthen existing links betweenUniversityCollege London and The Chinese University and provide the School of Law with the foundation for extensive international scholarly and student links.
