News in Brief 41 ULS Exhibition to Honour World-renowned Botanist The University Library System hosted an exhibition from 10 February to 26 March 2006 in recognition of the outstanding contributions of Prof. Hu Shiuying, honorary professor of Chinese medicine at the University, to plant taxonomy for over seven decades, as well as to promote interest in plant taxonomy and Chinese medicinal herbs in Hong Kong. The exhibition took place in the exhibition hall of the University Library. Exhibits include Prof. Hu’s publications, research materials, plant specimens, letters, manuscripts and photos. A Banker’s Photographs on Display at Chung Chi College ‘A Passion for Landscapes’ photographic exhibition by Joseph Y.W. Pang was being staged in the lobby, Chung Chi College Administration Building from 27 April to 26 May 2006. This special visual art event was presented in celebration of the 55th anniversary of Chung Chi College. Joseph Y.W. Pang, a 1973 Chung Chi graduate, is currently executive director and deputy chief executive of the Bank of East Asia. A self-made photographer, Pang has displayed unique styles and characteristics of his own. The works featured in this exhibition largely portray landscapes of peace and tranquility. Simple and harmonious in terms of both composition and colour, the works mark the blending of a banker’s wisdom with nature.
