- The CUHK administers a number of local and overseas scholarships for application.
- The monthly stipend for Postgraduate Studentship is around $18,025-$18,525 for 2021-22. Students awarded the studentships are expected to assist in the teaching and research work of the department to which they belong.
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2009, aims at attracting the best and brightest students from all over the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong. The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$27,100 and a conference travel allowance of HK$13,600 per year for the awardees for a maximum period of three years. For awardees with a normative study period of 4 years, CUHK will offer the award at the same level for the fourth year.

The Faculty is active in both basic and applied research, which is supported by University funds, the Research Grants Council, the Innovation and Technology Commission, and private foundations. Research results are published in prestigious technical journals and presented at international conferences. The Faculty encourages cooperation between Faculty members and local or overseas universities in research study, and financially assists postdoctoral students and visiting scholars to participate in our research.
