Catch me if you can 2008
“Catch me if you can 2008” was successfully held on 13 Dec 2008 (Saturday) in Ho Sin Hang Engineering Building, CUHK.
The annual competition among secondary schools was co-organized by the Electronic Engineering Department, CUHK, the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and the Electronics Technology Education Association (H.K.). It aimed to raise interest and awareness of electronic technology through a series of game-oriented competitions to secondary students. This year, the competition held the theme of “Metal Detector”, which attracted over 40 teams from different secondary schools, with each team consisted of 4 students and 1 teacher, participated in the whole day event. Prior to the competition, participants had attended a training session on theory and design of metal detector fabrication. They brought along their self-made metal detectors to the CUHK campus on the competition day. Four games, namely “Appearance Design”, “Creativity on Functionality”, “Treasure Hunt” and “Creative Application” were held to test for the power efficiency and sensitivity performance of participants’ products as well as the innovative ideas behind. Guests from industry and professors in the department were invited to form the judge panel. There were a total of 12 prizes awarded to the Champions, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up winners from each game.
