CHAN Wai-Yee (陳偉儀) is former Master of CW Chu College (2017–2021) and is currently Senior Advisor to the Master. He obtained his BSc from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and his PhD from the University of Florida. During his undergraduate years, he was a student of United College and held office in the Representative Council of CUHK.

Chan has been a teacher at CUHK since 2009, and is currently Professor of Biomedical Sciences and founding Director of School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine. He has held many offices at the University, as Deputy Chair of the Research Committee (2013–2018), as a member of the CUHK Alumni Torch Fund Executive Committee (2014–2017), among others, and in the Faculty of Medicine as a member in various committees. Prior to his Mastership at CW Chu College, he was affiliated with United College, where he has been a Fellow (2010–2016), as well as a member of the Committee on General Education (2011–2016) and the Committee on Alumni Affairs and Development (2010–2016).

Chan has been actively engaged in serving the scientific community of Hong Kong and China in various capacities. He is Director of CUHK–Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health (CAS GIBH) Joint Research Laboratory on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, and of CHUK–Shandong University Joint Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics. He is a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Science (2013 to present), of which he has been Vice President (2015–2016), a member of the Board of Directors of Joshua Hellmann Foundation for Orphan Diseases, Hong Kong (2012–2018) and a member of the Shaw Prize Council (2013–2017). He has been a member of the Biology and Health Panel of the Research Grants Council, University Grants Committee (2004–2018), a member of its Health Sciences Panel in the Research Assessment Exercise (2006, 2014), and a member of the Grant Review Board, Health and Food Bureau (2011–2018). He also serves in the Admission Panel of the Incu-Bio Incubator Programme (2015 to present) and the Soft-Landing Program Evaluation Panel (2015 to present) of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, and in the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (2015–2016), of which he is also a Specialist (2016 to present). He also serves in advisory committees of a number of regional universities, including Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tsing Hua University, to name a few.
