You are cordially invited to attend the upcoming event-Curating Art: International perspectives on relational curating. This roundtable marks the publication of the anthology, Curating Art, edited by Janet Marstine and Oscar Ho, by bringing four of the contributors together to discuss some of the most socially and politically impactful curating of the last two decades in diverse parts of the world. We use the term ‘relational’ curating to focus on curating that prioritizes the quality of relationships between people and objects, between institutions and people, and among people. Speakers will illuminate the globalization of the field and challenge dichotomies of East and West while acknowledging distinctions within specific, but often transnational, cultural spheres. They will examine the ways that the often overlapping strategies of feminism, net.art, decolonization, and community engagement have produced new models of curating. Finally, the roundtable will offer up a museological framework for understanding these watershed developments in curating.
