Seminar on “A Possible Path for Persons with Disabilities to Gain Equal Judicial Protection”

Jointly supported by Beijing - Hong Kong Universities Alliance, Department of Social Work, CUHK, and School of Sociology and Population Studies, Renmin University of China, the monthly online seminar of Mainland – Hong Kong Multidisciplinary Disability Research Network, was successfully held on 23 October 2021 (Saturday) via zoom.

Mr. DING Peng, a Ph.D. candidate in law from Wuhan University was invited to share the topic on “A Possible Path for persons with disabilities to Gain Equal Judicial Protection”. Mr. DING reviewed the legal support services and the changing environment for disabled persons comprehensively in China, such as his study on legal aid for disabled persons, the development of barrier-free facilities and the reflection on the current situation. Mr. DING also shared his idea on the development of legal projection services for persons with disabilities.

Over 40 university students, researchers and disabilities service practitioners participated in this seminar. This seminar enhanced the participants’ understanding regarding the legal aid for persons with disabilities in China and the development of legal protection system.
