Jointly supported by Beijing - Hong Kong Universities Alliance, Department of Social Work, CUHK, and School of Sociology and Population Studies, Renmin University of China, the monthly online seminar of Mainland – Hong Kong Multidisciplinary Disability Research Network, was successfully held on 25 September 2021 (Saturday) via zoom.
Prof. WU Ji from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Harbin Engineering University was invited to share the topic on “Action Research on Social Work Services for Migrant Workers with Mental Illness”. Prof. WU shared her experience of action research on social work strategies to promote rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients with mental illness in China. Prof. WU also discussed the impact of medical hegemony and social support on the social work and rehabilitation services for migrant workers with mental illness in China.
30 university students, researchers and disabilities service practitioners participated in this seminar. This seminar enhanced the participants’ knowledge regarding how social work services can be organized and delivered for migrant workers in mental hospitals and how social workers may collaborate with other professions.
