This course reviews and examines mental health policies in Hong Kong and Mainland China for primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Social service programmes, legislations and ethical issues which are pertinent to the well-being of individuals and families suffering from mental health problems and/ or mental disorders are examined. Service barriers such as stigmatization of mental illnesses are discussed and the role of social workers in policy advocacy and identification of policy initiatives are emphasized.
