Signing of 4 Agreements with Government
28 Oct 2016
In 2014, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) submitted a proposal to the Government for the development of a non-profit making private teaching hospital, namely CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC), in support of the Government’s initiative to maintain a dual-track healthcare system in Hong Kong encompassing both public and private elements.
CUHK proposed to the Government to build the new hospital at Sha Tin Town Lot No. 437. The Land Lease Modification was approved by the Government and executed in October 2016.
Along with the Land Lease Modification, 3 other agreements were signed between the Government and CUHK, including the Service Deed, Loan Agreement, and Debenture. The Government also granted a loan of HK$4.033 billion to CUHKMC. The cheque for the 1st tranche of loan was received from the Food and Health Bureau on 20 March 2017, which marked a significant milestone for the project.
