Double Major Programmes
To equip students with inter-disciplinary knowledge and skills in social science, two 4-year double major programmes are offered from 2022-2023:
- B.S.Sc. in Journalism and Communication and Psychology Double Major Programme
- B.S.Sc. in Journalism and Communication and Sociology Double Major Programme
Students will be awarded two majors upon completion of studies.
Students admitted to the Journalism and Communication Programme, Psychology Programme or Sociology Programme (4-year curriculum) in 2022-2023 and thereafter are eligible to apply. Some tailor-made arrangements are made for the double major programmes.
Participating students will need to fulfil the requirements of two majors in four years of studies. Application details will be announced via email in August or September every year.

The version on the Student Handbook shall prevail in case of inconsistency.
JLM-PSY Double Major Programme
Selection Process:
Students have to meet the following minimum requirements by the end of June of their first year of study:
- They need to take at least four 3-unit courses from both programmes (including COMM1150 and one other COMM course, and PSYC1000 and one other PSYC course) and attain an average GPA of 3.30 for these four courses.
- They also need to attain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in the second term of their first year of study.
Selection of suitable applicants will be made by both Department of Psychology and School of Journalism and Communication in June or July. Interviews may be arranged if needed. Students will be notified of the results of their application by the end of July of their first year of study.
JLM-SOC Double Major Programme
Selection Process:
Students have to meet the following minimum requirements by the end of June of their first year of study:
- They need to take at least four 3-unit courses from both programmes (including COMM1120 and one other COMM course, and SOCI1001 and one other SOCI course) and attain an average GPA of 3.00 for these four courses.
- They also need to attain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in the second term of their first year of study.
Selection of suitable applicants will be made by both Department of Sociology and School of Journalism and Communication in June or July. Interviews may be arranged if needed. Students will be notified of the results of their application by the end of July of their first year of study.
