Outbound Teaching Practice Tour to Korea
Led by Professor Eunice Tang, Professor Park Moonyoung and our ELED alumna, Ms. Ingrid To, a delegate of 9 ELED Year 4 and Year 5 students joined an outbound teaching practice tour to Deagu, South Korea during 6-14 May 2017. The outbound teaching practice tour aims at extending and expanding students’ teaching and learning experiences to settings beyond Hong Kong. Through this programme, students are expected to gain an understanding of educational policies, practices and curriculum in other ESL/EFL countries; to interact and exchange ideas about teaching with our counterparts including Keimyung University, Sung Kwang Junior High School and Sung Kwang Senior High School; and to reflect on the teaching context and classroom practices.
More students’ reflection can be found at Netter.
“This Korea Teaching Trip is a challenging yet fruitful trip. It enabled me to take a look at the English lessons in foreign countries. I also had the chance to apply what I have learnt into an English classroom of a different culture. I was able to reflect on my own performance and also English teaching during the trip. I believe this experience will become a remarkable memory to me.”
Julohn Pang (ELED/5)
“I have definitely learned a lot in the trip and grown as a prospective teacher. It is hoped that I will be able to make use of what I have learned in the trip to benefit my future teaching so as to pay it forward.”
Tom Cheng (ELED/4)
“Through the Daegu teaching trip, I realized how important it is for teachers to be extremely flexible in class, to be alert at all times in class to make instant responses to students’ needs, and to create an English speaking environment for ESL and EFL students if it is aimed that their English proficiency would improve.”
Bridget Ho (ELED/5)
