MATH1010C - University Mathematics - 2016/17

Announcement

• The midterm exam will be held on Oct 26, 2016 (Wednesday), from 19:30-21:00. Our section will meet at LSK LT5 for the midterm. Please make sure you go to the correct room for the test. Thank you.
• For those of you who wants to become a math major, you may be interested in taking part in a first year honours scheme. The details of the last run (including a sample paper and the actual test that was given) can be found here: http://www.math.cuhk.edu.hk/student-centre/first-year-mathematics-honours-scheme-2016 In due course, we will have information about this year's administration of the scheme. Stay tuned!
• Another useful resource is the math gym, at LG102 and LG104 in Science Centre East Block: In LG104, our tutors will sit down with you on a one-to-one basis, and discuss your math problems. Appointments are available through this online booking system on a first-come, first-served basis. In LG102, you can find many individual study tables, as well as a few long and wide tables, where you can discuss math with your friends. Remember: math is not a spectator sport. You are encouraged to build your muscles, by exercising often enough, and the math gym is a great place to go to if you have questions!

Course Description

The main focus of this course is on one-variable calculus. On top of the methods and techniques of computation and their applications, this section places special emphasis on the theoretical foundations, for the benefit of those who want to acquire a deeper understanding of the subject.
