The Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS, with co-organization of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Lijiang Municipal People’s Government, organized the CAS Biodiversity and Disease Animal Model Academic Conference (中國科學院生物資源多樣性與疾病動物模型學術 研討會) between 24 and 26 July 2010 in Lijiang, Kunming. Over 50 scientists and experts from Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS, CUHK, Tongji University, University of Science and Technology of China, Wuhan Institute of Virology, CAS, Anhui University, Kunming Medical University and Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine joined this conference.
Renowned scientists and scholars from these universities and institutes including Prof. Gang Pei, Academician, CAS and Vice-Chancellor of Tongji University and Prof. Ya-Ping Zhang, Director of Kunming Institute of Zoology presented the work in their selected fields of research. Our School members including Prof. Wai-Yee Chan, SBS Director, Prof. Michael Tam, Prof. Christopher Cheng, Prof. Gang Li, Prof. Wing-Ho Yung, Prof. Hsiao Chang Chan, Prof. Wing-Hung Ko, Prof. Chao Wan, Prof. David Wan, together with Prof. Nelson Tang, Associate Member of Reproduction, Development and Endocrinology Program, Prof. P.C. Shaw, Department of Biochemistry (Science) and Dr. Y.Q. Qiu, Department of Chemical Pathology also had their scientific sharing during the event.
This 3-day conference provided an effective platform for the participants to share insights and exchange expertise. It is hoped that a closer link between our School and the participating institutes and universities can be established.
